PLACEMENT REVIEW PROCESS FOR G/T MATH FOR SCHOOL YEAR 2014-2015
The COGAT results for 3rd grade and the SCAT results for 4th grade will be mailed home on April 11, 2014. The eligibility ranges for 4th and 5th grade G/T math will also be included. If your child's score fell within the eligibility ranges, your child may participate in G/T math for the upcoming school year with parent consent. However, if your child did not fall within the eligibility ranges and you would like your child to be considered for possible placement, what do you do?
You can submit a request in writing requesting that a placement review be conducted. In your request letter, please include supporting reasons which you believe justify a 2 year above grade level math placement for your child. A placement review is a discussion of your child's current math performance along with looking at other data, such as MSA scores. Based on this data, we will make a recommendation to either be placed in G/T math or to remain in current math placement. The letters to request a placement review must be received by Friday, April 25, 2014. We will mail our decisions letters on Friday, May 2, 2014. Please send your letter either by email or hard copy to Grace Oh.
